I found an interesting item for John Peachlyn Lincecum today. Let me explain.
The Texas State Archives has put Republic Claims online. Per the website, "the Republic Claims series of Comptroller's records includes claims for payment, reimbursement, or restitution submitted by citizens to the Republic of Texas government from 1835 through 1846. It also includes records relating to Republic pensions and claims against the Republic submitted as public debt claims after 1846. The files include supporting documents such as vouchers, financial accounts, military records, receipts, notes, or letters."
Lt. John P. Lincecum served in Capt. Orton's Company of Volunteer Mounted Gunmen for the Republic of Texas from 15 July to 11 August 1841. In 1853, he was finally paid $30 for his services. You can see the certificate at the following address - http://tslarc.tsl.state.tx.us/repclaims/140/14000099.pdf . Very interesting.
